Increasing value for its customers has been at the heart of what Dahua has done over the last few years. More recently, the company unveiled its Think# 2.0 strategy, which is driving its development of AIoT solutions in an ever-expanding world of intelligent, digital networks. As a strategic initiative for 2023, the company utilizes its ‘Five Full’ capabilities, AIoT, IoT sensing, integrated connections and other technological competencies to accelerate the digital transformation of cities and enterprises. By doing so, Dahua further bolsters its shared ecosystem with its partners, jointly promoting the development of the digital economy and exploring opportunities in the global market together. But this commercial success is not achieved in a vacuum – Dahua continues to embrace the twin goals of sustainability and corporate social responsibility, to contribute to the wellbeing of the environment and society.

Enabling Digitalization and Innovation of Cities

The Think# 2.0 strategy embraces the development of digitization and innovation in cities. This includes enhanced city management and operations, greater public safety and environmental monitoring. Dahua’s Intelligent Traffic Solutions improve the safety and efficiency of road systems, monitoring and improving traffic flows, providing real-time information to drivers, and detecting traffic violations. Traffic solutions include energy-efficient products to reduce carbon emissions, and image fusion technology to reduce light pollution in monitored areas. Other solutions are used to enhance the safety and efficiency of public transportation systems, such as DSM cameras and AI-based passenger flow counting for nearly 6,400 minibuses and electric buses in Istanbul. In terms of city center events and activities, Dahua AI-enabled cameras are used to ensure the safety and security of participants and spectators, such as at the two-month long Carnaval del Pais in Argentina, and to help the flow of emergency services in Jesus Maria, also in Argentina.

Through the integration of AI and IoT sensing technology, Dahua cameras are monitoring the discharge of more than 800 potentially polluting companies in a Chinese province and illegal fishing activities on the Tuo River in Fushun County, which can impact on the biodiversity of the river. The cameras continuously inspect preset locations on a 30-minute cycle – around 30 seconds for each location – and use thermal imaging technology at night, so that intelligent monitoring can continue in the dark.

Empowering Digital-Intelligent Transformation of Enterprises

Dahua’s solutions have also been used to empower the intelligent digital transformation of businesses to optimize security, increase productivity and assist in efficient management and operations. Dahua has developed a range of smart building solutions, for example, including:

  • Intelligent air switches which carry out real time monitoring and analysis of voltage, current, and temperature.

  • Intelligent energy saving systems which automatically regulate energy use in air conditioning and lighting systems. the message after being signed with a private key.

  • Digitized meetings and conferences, which reduce the use of paper while making communication smoother and conference management more efficient.

One sector that illustrates the range of Dahua’s smart building solutions is in the travel and tourism sector. With innovative integration of technology with hospitality, smart hotel solutions provide streamlined guest parking and check-ins, advanced access control with real-time anomaly detection such as unauthorized intrusions, efficient, real-time emergency response, and intelligent power consumption. Inherent with these systems is the provision of actionable intelligence to provide hotel management with unrivalled situational awareness and analysis.

In the field of smart education, Dahua is helping to transform learning with the DeepHub Smart Classroom. DeepHub seamlessly integrates with AI to create an immersive, interactive and content-rich learning environment. It combines both hardware and software capabilities, and offers 4 teaching scenarios (lecture, seminar, hybrid, sharing). The DeepHub whiteboard, for example, features wireless projection, whiteboard writing, video conferencing and file management, giving students and teachers the ability to interact with content using hyperlinks or buttons, and launch applications from the whiteboard itself. DeepHub also provides unparalleled opportunities for meaningful remote learning, as is the case at the International School on the Rhine in Germany, where student participation and classroom interaction has been enhanced.

In addition to smart building and education, Dahua also enables the digital-intelligent transformation in other fields, including retail, energy, finance, logistics, manufacturing, construction, petrochemical, coal, electric power, steel, agricultural products, culture and tourism, medical treatment, and more.

2023 Technology Highlights

This year has been another one of technological innovation for Dahua. The Full-color Cube, for example, delivers full color smart dual light 180-degree monitoring of large scenes. Dahua’s Three-in-One Camera, TiOC, was taken to the next level, providing integration with third-party alarm monitoring software, IP speakers and alarm hubs, as well as the company’s DSS and DMSS video management software.

Video search technology has been enhanced with AcuPick, which uses front- and back-end AI innovations to locate human or vehicle target images faster and more accurately with just one click. Unlike frame-by-frame browsing, AcuPick directly locates video clips of humans or vehicles by filtering out unnecessary information.

Also launched this year were Dahua’s cloud managed switches, which offer all the advantages of a cloud-based platform to easily add, configure and manage devices remotely. They deliver rapid deployment, simple configuration and efficient maintenance, all with PoE 2.0 transmission.

Enhanced image performance and rich intelligent functions – especially in low light conditions or strong illumination – feature in Dahua’s upgraded IPC WizMind S series. It features an improved low illumination image effect called Deeplight, which uses a deep learning algorithm to process images, reducing image noise and achieving better image quality.

The Dahua Wireless Series cameras are easy to install, thanks to their lack of cabling and intuitive ‘plug and play’ setup. They can be managed over cell phone networks using the Dahua Mobile Security Surveillance (DMSS) app, or via WiFi via the DSS video management system.

Other product highlights in 2023 include the launches of:

Cybersecurity developments during the year included Dahua obtaining the Common Criteria for Information Security Evaluation certificate for its network camera series, and the release of the company’s Product Security Whitepaper 3.0, enabling customers to better respond to today’s cybersecurity challenges.

Continuous Exploration of Emerging Fields

Dahua has also been working on non-security and emerging technologies. These include Dahua Memory, providing reliable storage solutions such as SSDs, memory cards, external storage, USB flash drives and DRAM for the video and IT sectors, and Dahua CH II Series Indoor Fine Pixel Pitch LED Display, which provides superior clarity with enhanced energy efficiency and sustainability.

Looking ahead to next year, Dahua will continue to embrace video-centric AIoT trends to strengthen its AIoT capabilities and empower its various customer sectors, enacting its Think#2.0 corporate strategy. Together with Dahua’s Environmental, Social and Governance commitments to sustainable practices while integrating digital intelligence, 2024 is set to be a year of continued technological advancement in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner.
